Block Paving in Worsley

Block paving for driveways, paths, steps and patios, laid to pattern in your choice of colour and finish on a compacted sub-base, with kiln-dried sand locked into every joint and sunken paving lifted and relaid. Around eight miles from our Leigh base.

Block Paving for Worsley Gardens

In Worsley block paving has to sit quietly against the black-and-white houses and mature planting, so we keep the blends muted, weathered buff, brindle and silver-grey rather than anything bright. We lay it for paths, steps, edging and courtyard areas around Broadoak Park and Hazelhurst, using the small units to curve around established beds where a large flag would look wrong. A tumbled or aged block reads as traditional, which suits the older Worsley plots better than a sharp modern finish.

We cover Worsley and the surrounding area: Worsley Village, Roe Green, Broadoak Park, Hazelhurst, Alder Forest and beyond (M28).

What’s Included

A good share of our Worsley block paving work is relaying rather than new. Established paths and courtyards here have often sunk, spread at the edges or lost their jointing sand over the years, so we lift them, put the compacted sub-base and concrete edge restraints right, and relay the existing blocks with fresh kiln-dried sand brushed in. Where the setting allows we lay paths in stretcher or basketweave and keep herringbone for anything that carries weight.

★★★★★
"Tim did a fantastic job, everything done exactly as requested and the quality of work was amazing. Once the job was finished everything was cleaned up and left exactly as it was found. I would definitely recommend Barrow Landscaping if you’re looking to get any work done. Thanks Tim."

Block Paving in Worsley, FAQs

Usually yes, and on Worsley’s mature plots it’s often the sensible route. As long as the blocks are sound we lift them, rebuild the base and edge that let them sink, and relay the same paving with fresh kiln-dried sand, which keeps the weathered look that suits the area.

Muted, weathered tones work best against timber and old brick, buff, brindle and silver-grey, ideally in a tumbled or aged finish rather than a sharp new one. We dry-lay samples on site so you can see the blend in Worsley’s leafy light before anything is fixed down.

Yes, and it suits patios well because the small units follow curves and let us work borders, banding and even a circle feature into the design. We lay it to a fall the same way we would flags, so water runs off rather than pooling, and the colour blend can be picked to sit with the house and the planting.

Usually, yes. If blocks have dropped or spread it means the base or the edge restraint has failed, so we lift the affected area, put the base and edges right and relay it properly. Where the joints have simply lost their sand and weeds have taken hold, brushing in fresh kiln-dried sand tightens them back up, though if the blocks have actually moved the base is the real fix.
